Sept. 14. Never complain, no matter what you have to endure. Misfortune lies always in the perception of things, not in the things themselves. Should you suddenly lose all your wealth, perhaps in a stock market crash, the time may have come in God’s plan for you to taste poverty. A positive lesson to be learned from the sudden loss of everything is calm detachment. Another lesson is to be complete in yourself. Success and failure, both, are part of life’s flow. So also are wealth and poverty, fame and ignominy. Accept all opposites with a smile, for in God alone is it possible to rise permanently above duality. Meanwhile, accept your lot in life, whatever it may be, and be of good cheer. Remember, it’s all a show—a cosmic dream. To your deeper Self, it has no reality.
