Oct. 1. “Fame and wealth,” my Guru used to say, “are like prostitutes: loyal to no man.” In the end, these two bring only disappointment. If fame comes unasked, however, owing to some past karma (I hesitate to call it good karma!), use it for the benefit of others and not to bolster your own ego. Fame can be a means of reaching many people and helping them; never glory in it, however. You are the same person, whether you are known or unknown. It is easier to be yourself, however, if people don’t burden you with their expectations. Be natural with them, open—even deferential—to their opinions.
