Words of Yogananda and Kriyananda

This mini-blog is just to record short quotes of Yogananda and Kriyananda in a less formal manner than the ananda.org web site or even the blog A Place Called Ananda. For more in depth information click on one of these links I just mentioned.

Nov. 8. One’s taste in food can be an indication of, and can also influence, his state of consciousness. Eat only food that is rich in life and energy; don’t eat stale or “dead” food. Fresh food will serve you best. Don’t eat food if it is excessively stimulating, nor food that is excessively bland. Foods contain different vibrations. For this reason it is good to abstain from eating meat, especially of animals that are conscious enough to feel fear and anger at being slaughtered. People who eat such meat (as distinct from fish, fowl, and lamb) absorb into themselves similar vibrations. In eating, also concentrate on taste, rather than bolting everything down absent-mindedly. The more you enjoy your food—not gluttonously, but with calm appreciation—the more you will absorb from it wholesome vibrations. Swami Kriyananda writing as J Donald Walters in hs new, soon to be published book “Do It Well”
